Theory of Change
How we get from here to a post-labor world
From Problem to Impact
Our theory of change maps the logical pathway from the problems we're solving, through our activities and outputs, to the outcomes and ultimate impact we seek.
The Problem
What we're solving
AI Displacing Labor
AI, automation, and robotics are eliminating jobs faster than new ones are created, while wages remain the primary income distribution mechanism.
Economic Agency Paradox
Technology lowers costs but destroys the jobs that provide the income to buy cheaper goods—a self-reinforcing spiral.
Laborism
Cultural and political consensus that work is morally necessary prevents serious consideration of alternatives.
Power Vacuum
Without labor leverage, citizens lose the basis of democratic power and social contract negotiation.

Expected Outcomes
Changes we expect to see
Short-Term Outcomes
Growing awareness of L/0 framework • Laborism recognized as an ideology (not natural law) • Policy discussions begin to include post-labor considerations • Coalition partners identified and engaged
Medium-Term Outcomes
Pyramid Layer 1 mechanisms advancing (UBI pilots, expanded services) • Sovereign wealth fund proposals gaining traction • Algorithmic power pilots (open payment rails, transparency) • Policy frameworks adopted by advocacy orgs
Long-Term Outcomes
Multiple Pyramid layers implemented in leading nations • Capital ownership broadly distributed • Algorithmic power infrastructure operational • Labor no longer primary distribution mechanism • Social contract successfully renegotiated
Ultimate Impact
The world we're building toward
A Post-Labor World
No one has to work to survive. Contribution is voluntary, not coerced. Income flows from ownership, not wages. Citizens retain democratic power through algorithmic infrastructure. Humanity is free to pursue meaning, creativity, relationships, and flourishing.
Key Assumptions
- AI capabilities continue advancing at current or accelerating pace
- Labor displacement is inevitable and accelerating
- Proven mechanisms (SWFs, UPI, etc.) can scale to new contexts
- Coalition between workers and forward-thinking capital is possible
- Policy change can happen proactively, not just reactively
- Public opinion can shift on laborism with effective education
Key Risks
- Timing Mismatch: Automation faster than policy adaptation
- Elite Capture: Benefits of automation hoarded by few
- Techno-Populist Backlash: Public turns against AI/automation
- Founder Dependency: Movement too reliant on single leader
- Economic Collapse: Crisis before transition infrastructure ready
Evidence That Supports Our Theory
These mechanisms already work at national scale
